The Waiting Game and the Globetrotters
I'm a lover of nature, as a steadfast Taurus I have a love of its beauty and its bounty. And this time of year always leaves me impatient. We're able to plant early crops like potatoes, spinach and garden peas. But we have to wait on the bedding plants like broccoli, collards and lettuce.
So we wait a few weeks and then we'll plant them but like this little girl I am ready to dig in the dirt. I've been reading up on Apiculture and am hoping to start my hives next spring. I want to take a class this summer/fall and I have a lead on a mentor in the area who can readily help me out. I want to harvest the honey and in turn the pollination will help our garden. This year we are planting the entire small garden in flowers, something we have never done before in an effort to attract more bees of which we lacked last year. When I am ready next early spring I'll purchase around 60,000 new bees from a farm in Roanoke to start my hive.
Pizza Night at Woodland was this past Saturday. They always love this meal and any meal that they can participate in making.
And Sunday Nathan and I saw the Harlem Globetrotters at the Ted Constant Center in Norfolk. The last time I saw them was in 1972 and they consisted of the infamous Meadowlark Lemon and Curly and they capitivated me with the ball handling skills while "Sweet Georgia Brown" echoed in the background. We had great seats and they interacted with Nathan and other kids sitting near him.
Now there are 4 teams and in addition to the show held in Norfolk Sunday, they had another show in Charlottesville, Raleigh and Atlanta. They were entertaining and we had a great time, but I think we had more fun running through the sheets of rain back to the parking garage. We looked like a couple of drowned rats when we got into the truck.
