A Quick Fortnight!!!

Wow! Where did the time go? We've been busy at Woodland for the last couple of weeks. Still waiting on those butterbeans to fill out before the frost gets them. A few mornings have been in the low 40's with patchy frost in places.
And we got the fall garden planted adding cabbage, kale, collards, broccoli, romaine and iceberg lettuce. Little Miss Priss loves her leafy vegetables, that and yogurt are her current staples. It's a struggle to get her to eat, but in the last few days I have noticed an increase in appetite, asking for seconds. She is nothing like her brother who would eat cardboard if you put butter on it.

They should be spraying the defoilage on the cotton soon, then it really puffs out, and the smell ....
It's a distinct odor and one I'm hoping won't linger long. My kids would stay outside all day if I let them. In due time, kiddies, right now I don't want you straying too far out of my eyesight.

Laughter and love filled the farm this past Saturday. George and I hosted a homecoming bbq for my Chowan alumni friends. It was so much fun and we had a picture perfect day for it. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to see old friends and their families. We have decided to make it a yearly event.

The golf cart was a huge hit along with the 4-wheeler. The BBQ and desserts were off the chain! I am still eating cookies left over. We have thrown a few parties since moving here in 2000. This one had to be the most memorable simply for the fact that everyone had a smile on their face and the beautiful sound of laughter from the many children echoed across the fields. I can't wait until next year!
